A rare English porcelain plate. It bear the arms of the Earl of Lovelace with BYRON inescuteon in pretence.   He married ADA BYRON, only daughter  of LORD BYRON.

Byron: "Three bendlets enhanced Gules".

Wiliam King-Noel was created an Earl in 1838.

  Lady Byron was keen to make sure her daughter didin't follow the wilful ways of her father, LORD BYRON.  To that effect, she encouraged the study of mathematics.  ADA LOVELACE (Nee Byron) met Charles Babbage, famous for his  'Analytical Engine' one of the very first computers.  She was able to see the potential  of computers beyond mere number manipulation and is credited with writing the very first COMPUTER PROGRAM  or algorithm.  An amazing feat for a woman during the mid 19th Century.

  Good condition,  rim crack at 7 'o'clock. Rings well when tapped.
