Minton Armorial Cup MAHARAJA RAJPIPLA INDIA

Here is a rare and superb Minton porcelain armorial cup, circa 1920. It bears the Princely armorial of His Highness MAHARAJA RAJPIPLA.  Printed Minton orb mark.  Printed retailers mark of T.Goode, London. They supplied many fine bespoke porcelain and dinner services, including royal commissions. The firm still exists today.
    Sir Vijaysinhji was the 36th and last ruler of the 600 year old dynasty. The vast state was in northern India. He can be seen on the state postage stamps."Mr Pip" as he was known, was a popular celebrity and was happy to socialise with the English aristocracy. He worked tirelessly to improve the lives of his people and modernised the state. During the English summer he entertained at his home in Windsor, "The Manor". He owned a famous fleet of  bespoke Rolls Royces and his stables achieved the seemingly impossible; winners of the English, Irish and Indian Derbies.
